Originally Dinogymnium, subsequently (and now) Alisogymnium. Taxonomic senior synonym: Gymnodinium (now Dinogymnium) sphaerocephalum, according to Jain (1977a, p.133-134) - however, Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.28) retained Alisogymnium assamicum. Age: Maastrichtian.
