Deflandrea pachyceros

?pachyceros Deflandre and Cookson, 1955, p.252, pl.4, fig.7.  Holotype: Deflandre and Cookson, 1955, pl.4, fig.7.  Originally Deflandrea, subsequently (and now) Deflandrea?.  Questionable assignment: Stover and Evitt (1978, p.101).  The derivation of the epithet was not stated in the protologue.  Since Principle 5 of the I.C.B.N. states that taxon names are to be treated as Latin and since compound epithets are conventionally treated as adjectives, the epithet should be rendered as "pachycera", in agreement with the feminine gender of the generic name (with the neuter as "pachycerum" and the masculine as "pachycerus".  Age: Late Paleocene-Early Eocene.
